Nelson was born on April 03,1957 in Farmington, NM to the late Harry Sims and Alice B. Sims. He attended Nenahnezad Boarding School for his early schooling. For high school he graduated from Ignacio in 1976. He was a proud Bobcat and played basketball, football and he wrestled. He also attended college and received an Associates Degree in Arts and Sciences from NCC. He worked various jobs and made many friends along the way. He leaves behind his wife, Violet P. Simms. Their love for each other produced seven children (4-Girls- Andrea, Demetria, Talitha, and Calista 3-Boys-Adrian, Blayne and Craig). He was blessed with nine grandchildren.

He was a great son, father, brother, grandpa, uncle, cousin and friend. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes. His life verse in the bible is John 10:28 (KJV). He witnessed to friends and family when he had the chance. He prayed daily for his loved ones. He will be missed, but we know he is walking the streets of gold.
