Billie Marie Hackney

Farmington - Billie Marie Hackney of Farmington, 91, left this earth to be with her Lord and Saviour on October 22, 2021.

She was born July 31, 1930 in McKinney, Texas, to Roy and Vinnie Self Howard, the youngest of 3 daughters. She married J.A. Hackney in 1948 and they had 3 children. She truly loved her Hackney family, marrying into a family of 8 children.

Billie taught school for 30 years, 23 years in the Kirtland Central Schools. She was a champion for education and after retiring from teaching she substituted for a few years. She also was a volunteer with the CASA program, advocating for children in the court system. In addition, she supported Grace Place Pregnancy and Health Center, and Four Corners Home for Children.

She was a member of First Baptist Church Kirtland for 56 years. Billie had a deep faith in the Lord, and knew forgiveness was essential in every relationship. She traveled with the New Mexico Mission Team to Thailand in 2004, truly a highlight of her life.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, J.A. Hackney, her parents, sisters and their spouses, Omega (Paul) Lawson, Galia (Billy) Edwards, and grandson, Alan Dale Flack.

Billie is survived by her son Ron (Trish) Hackney and daughters Janie (Alan) Flack, and Melody (Ken) McKibben. Grandchildren Ron (Jackie) Hackney Jr., Linda (Tom) Aaron, Jennifer (Jay) Hank, Dawn (Eric) Johnson, Jody (Josh) Gardner, 14 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Brother-in-law, Tom (Dora) Hackney and sister-in-laws, Sally Langley and Linda Hackney, and several nieces and nephews.

We want to thank the devoted and compassionate staff at The Bridge where mom resided for 2 plus years, and the staff at Aztec Health Care Center for the past 3 months. Your help has made this journey so much easier.

Celebration of mom's life will be November 6, 2021 @ 1:00pm at First Baptist Church Kirtland, NM. Mask requested at service.
