FARMINGTON — A 13-year-old girl has been arrested and accused of making a school shooting threat.

Kirtland Middle School was placed on lockdown today in response to the threat, according to a San Juan County Sheriff's Office Facebook post.

She is accused of a petty misdemeanor charge of interference with the educational process, according to Detective Lt. Kyle Lincoln of the Sheriff's Office.

The school was cleared by Sheriff's deputies and detectives who located a hand-written note.

The 13-year-old female student confessed to detectives and she was arrested, authorities said.

A Kirtland Central High School 17-year-old male student was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly issuing a bomb threat at that school.

He was charged with a fourth-degree felony charge of creating a bomb scare.
