FARMINGTON — A Farmington man has been arrested and accused of stabbing another man in downtown Farmington.

Bobby Henry, 35, is accused of a third-degree felony count of aggravated battery, according to court documents.

Officers for the Farmington Police Department were dispatched around 4:06 p.m. on Jan. 19 to 101 W. Animas St. on reports of a stabbing, according to the probable cause statement.

A man was found with a laceration on his right arm and was bleeding. He was transported to the San Juan Regional Medical Center by medics.

Shellie Patscheck, Henry's attorney, said she has not been provided discovery from the prosecution and is looking forward to reviewing the evidence and defending Henry in court.

The victim gave a description of the alleged suspect, later identified as Henry, and of an African-American male who was with Henry, according to court documents.

Police later located the two men and they were detained.

Officers observed a folding knife in Henry's pocket and ordered him to remove it and place it on the ground. He complied with the order.

Henry told police he didn't stab anybody when told he was a suspect in an aggravated battery.

The man taken into custody alongside Henry told police Henry started stabbing people for no reason, stating a Hispanic male was also stabbed in the hand.

Officers were unable to locate the other man who may have been stabbed. The man detained alongside Henry was later released.

Henry refused to answer additional questions but did tell police he had been drinking all day, according to court documents.

He was incarcerated at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center Friday afternoon on a no-bond hold.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in Farmington Magistrate Court.
