FARMINGTON — Three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision this afternoon near the Hilltop Giant gas station along U.S. Highway 550.
Emergency responders were dispatched around 3:51 p.m. today on reports of a vehicle collision in the area of the gas station located at 13921 U.S. Highway 550, near mile marker 133. The gas station is about 13 miles south of Bloomfield.
Two vehicles collided and three people were injured, according to Michele Truby-Tillen of San Juan County Office of Emergency Management.
One person was transported by helicopter from the scene and two were transported by ambulance to San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington.
The county office of management posted on its Facebook page at 4:12 p.m. today that traffic was shut down in both directions of U.S. Highway 64 near the collision. The highway was open to traffic around 5 p.m.
New Mexico State Police officials are investigating the incident.
Deputies for the San Juan County Sheriff's Office and firefighters from District 6 and 11 of the San Juan County Fire Department also responded to the scene.
A Farmington man was killed in a car crash Thursday near the site of today's incident.
Kensley Sylvester, 23, was one of four passengers in the truck that was rear-ended by another vehicle around 3 p.m. on U.S. Highway 550 near mile marker 135.
The truck was struck while stopped in the northbound lane, attempting to make a left turn. The driver and three other passengers were injured also.
