Incident is alleged to have taken place in Berg Park July 21


FARMINGTON — Farmington police have released a sketch of a man accused of attempting to sexually assault a woman in Berg Park on July 21.

The female victim met with a sketch artist, who was able to create the composite sketch of the suspect, according to a police press release.

The suspect is described as a Native American male, about 5-foot-10 and weighing about 160 to 180 pounds.

He was wearing a long-sleeve shirt with a logo or other markings on the upper sleeves, black pants and possibly white athletic shoes with black accents, according to the press release.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. on July 21, on a secluded trail on the south side of the Animas River and west of Rocky Reach Landing.

The suspect is accused of throwing the victim to the ground and attempting to remove her pants before she escaped. She was later treated for lacerations to her arms, face and legs.
