A real fish story
There were 70 young contenders in the weekend fishing derby at Lake Farmington, but Da'Shawn Hunter, 9, caught the largest fish. It was 19 inches long.
More than 400 vehicles were counted at the lake during Saturday’s free fishing event.
The derby was organized by the Farmington Recreation Center. The New Mexico Department of Game & Fish waived fishing license requirements Saturday, and also provided the rods used at the derby for kids who did not have their own rod.
