Awards are raining down on one Farmington nursing homes, one from two health care organizations and another from the corporate office.
Life Care Center of Farmington was among 15 New Mexico nursing homes recognized for providing quality care. The Murray Drive facility received a 2017 Excellence in Care Coordination Certificate Aug. 23.
Its chief executive also won an award. Parent company Life Care Centers of America honored the facility’s Executive Director Jason Odenthal Aug. 14 with one of two President’s Awards for its Mountain States Division.
Among top 15 facilities
The facility excellence award came via a new awards program, the HealthInsight Quality Award Program.
“Since 2004, the program has recognized nursing homes, hospitals, home health agencies and outpatient medical practices and clinics in Utah and Nevada. This year, HealthInsight New Mexico and the New Mexico Health Care Association partnered to launch the program in our state,” the groups said Aug. 23 in a joint press release.
The inaugural awards were presented at the New Mexico Health Care Association’s 63rd Annual Convention and Exposition opening session Aug. 23 in Albuquerque.
"We are honored to recognize these outstanding nursing homes and the work they are doing to improve health care quality and patient care for the residents in New Mexico," said Margy Wienbar, HealthInsight New Mexico executive director. "Their commitment to quality of care reflects a dedication to some of the state’s most vulnerable individuals."
Stewardship recognized
The President’s Award “recognizes distinguished service in a long-term health care management role,” the company said in a press release.
Odenthal was lauded for stewardship “and his focus on valuing his staff,” the release said, “resulting in a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in 2017, and turnover has decreased.”
“Jason is a caring and inclusive leader for the associates, residents and families of Life Care Center of Farmington,” said Jay Beaudoin, vice president of Life Care’s Pikes Peak Region.
The firm awards 15 President’s Awards annually.
“Jason has demonstrated professional skill and compassion in dispatching his responsibilities to the associates, residents and families he serves,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “He has uniquely demonstrated a leadership style for others to emulate. This is a distinguished award to receive because it goes to the heart of our mission.”
The Mountain States Division includes 30 skilled nursing and rehab facilities in Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and Hawaii, the release stated.
The nationwide health care company manages more than 200 nursing, post-acute and Alzheimer’s centers in 28 states. It was founded in 1976.
