Farmington (6-4) defeated Bloomfield (11-7) 17-2 at the Ricketts Park softball complex behind two Cheyenne Cochran home runs.
Cochran was 3-for-5 in the game with a grand slam, a three-run home run and a double.
Erika Bradley was 2-for-5 with a solo-home run for the Lady Scorps in the win. She also had 3 RBIs.
Farmington won despite eight fielding errors.
“Credit to Bloomfield. they played like they believed more in their ability than they believed in ours,” said FHS head coach Johnny Curry. “Though our eight errors was something we don't need to see, we did, however, see the return of big offense. Our girls are capable of scoring a lot of runs in a little time when we believe in our bats. We'll try to carry that into next week's district opener at Aztec.”
Sophia Cumpton was 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs in the loss for Bloomfield.
Haili Bekes was 3-for-5 with an RBI.
The Lady Bobcats committed four fielding errors in the game.
“We hit well and continued to throughout the game,” said Bloomfield head coach Andi Clark. “We kept our heads up through the defensive errors and never gave up.”
