Aztec (1-0) defeated Shiprock 9-2 in the season opener for both teams Tuesday in Aztec.
Dylan Stinson pitched a complete game for the Tigers to pick up the win.
“He pitched real well in his first outing back from basketball,” said Aztec assistant coach Brett Alexander. “He kept the ball down and only gave up four hits on ground balls through the middle.”
Alexander said Stinson received run support thanks to some Shiprock errors and timely hits from Devin Cole and Tanner Moore.
“We had a lot of runners left on base and struggled a bit with our timing at the plate,” Alexander said.
