The New Mexico Supreme Court's decision made Municipal Court Judge Javier Lozano's resignation effective as of Friday evening.
In complaints made to the state Judicial Standards Commission, Lozano is accused of several acts of misconduct.
Lozano allegedly improperly touched Columbus' female mayor last August. He later offered to get her votes in a re-election race if she didn't pursue a complaint against him.
Other allegations include shoplifting from a store and stealing a bell from a home.
The court order rules Lozano cannot serve in any state judicial office or exercise any judicial authority in New Mexico, including officiating at weddings.
