Police spokesman Dan Trujillo says Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $1,000 and another $600 has been deposited into an account that was set up at US Bank in Las Cruces.
Authorities are hoping the reward money will lead to information that helps identify the culprit or culprits.
On the evening of Oct. 15, animal control officers responded to a call about an injured cat at an apartment complex. They found Rosie the cat with severe burns and near death.
Rosie was transported to the Mesilla Valley animal shelter. She had to be euthanized due to the severity of her injuries.
