RIO RANCHO, N.M.—Rio Rancho city officials say trails along the Rio Grande will be back open Saturday morning.

The Willow Creek Bosque Park was closed for about three weeks due to a habitat restoration project aimed at helping the Rio Grande silvery minnow and the Southwestern willow flycatcher.

About 28 acres were treated.

Officials say recreational access to the river was also improved.

The $456,000 project was funded by the Middle Rio Grande Endangered Species Collaborative Program through the Bureau of Reclamation and the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission.
