SILVER CITY — Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce members and officials gathered on the WNMU campus Wednesday afternoon to recognize the former executive director and board members.
The Chamber's Board Recognition Award Luncheon was held in the Sunset Room of WNMU's Student Memorial Building. Business people of Grant County filed into the sunlit room off of the WNMU cafeteria.
The event opened with a social period of introductions and conversation between Chamber members new and old.
Guests were then treated to a lunch buffet.
After the meal, Board President Trent Petty approached the podium to begin the presentations.
On the behalf of the Chamber, Petty awarded former board members Linda McGee, Linda Nicholas, and Jim Nennich, and former Executive Director Lola Polley with plaques recognizing their long and devoted service. Petty then handed the mic to current Executive Director Sherry Logan.
Logan thanked all for coming to the ceremony and recognized former board members for all they have done to bring the organization to where it is now. She also invited everyone to the Chamber's Alive at 5 event — the first in several months — later in the day.
"I'm so glad we're on the right path," former board president Nennich said to Logan, "and I'll be right there with you if you ever need anything.
The chamber is accepting nominations to fill the board positions left open by the departing members, plus two vacant seats, and has extended the deadline until more nominations are received.
Logan also reminded the crowd of the ongoing contest for designs for the Chamber's new logo. For more information on that, see the Chamber's website www.silvercity.org.
