LAS CRUCES, N.M.—Congressman Steve Pearce and his Democratic challenger Evelyn Madrid Erhard are set to hold their first face-to-face debate.

New Mexico State University public TV station KRWG is hosting the debate for New Mexico's 2nd Congressional District. It is scheduled to air Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. The debate will air on all of New Mexico's public television stations following the vice presidential debate.

Pearce, a Republican, is seeking his 5th term in Congress. Erhard is a former communication college professor and strong supporter of President Obama.

KRWG director of content Fred Martino will serve as moderator. Students from NMSU's government department also will participate by asking questions during the debate.
