FARMINGTON — City officials have announced that Cory Styron will be Farmington's new Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs director.

The announcement comes after a roughly two month search to replace Jeff Bowman, who retired from the position in December after about 30 years with the city.

Styron comes to Farmington from Round Rock, Texas. He holds a master's in business administration and is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional.

He will begin his position with the city in March.

Styron was chosen from six finalists, including two internal candidates.

“I want to congratulate our two internal candidates who conducted themselves impressively in this process,” said City Manager Rob Mayes in an email to city council and the mayor late last month. “I appreciate both of them putting themselves on the line as they did.”
