This comment is to the story you've been covering, and I'm so appalled at the comments of the Navajo Nation president! He could have the decency to return your calls or at least try to explain why so many Navajo leaders attended this conference, whereas when there's a conference in the local areas pertaining to Indian Education very few attend if any at all.
With the president not taking calls, it's a plain copout. For shame, for shame, to hide behind closed doors! Come out and talk about how good a time you had, President!
When today's paper has a Vietnam veteran standing on the front page and can't afford labor, now that money used for a good time could have built that Vietnam veteran his home for his family. This veteran deserves a chunk of this thrown around money!
I'm sure other departments could use some also, like winter renovations for the elderly, instead of asking for more matching funds to accommodate our own people.
Isn't that what governing our own people is? Why not take leadership in a
