The Gallup Independent ( http://bit.ly/z0cIwR) reports that the commission approved making the request on a 5-0 vote Monday following a two-hour closed-door session.
County officials cite property tax assessment irregularities and sexual harassment allegations by employees against Assessor Pablo Savedra.
County Manager Scott Vinson said Savedra has refused to meet with him or the commission and that they don't trust Savedra.
Vinson said the sexual harassment allegations were made by two employees who appear to be truthful.
He says the county paid $5,000 to an alleged victim after Savedra was accused of sexual harassment in 2007.
Savedra did not immediately respond to a request by The Associated Press for comment Wednesday.
