Editor:
There seems to be much wringing of hands in the state press about how long it is taking to count the ballots in the Democratic Party's Caucus in choosing a candidate for president.
But surely this is all for the record. We have important political traditions in New Mexico that must be honored. There are correct processes that must be followed. One cannot decide the winner until other important questions are answered. Future political careers depend on making sure the right person wins. Endorsements must be made contingent upon certain prior considerations being reached.
If SeƱor Hugo Chavez of Venezuela would have done political graduate work in New Mexico he would not have had the considerable political embarrassment of holding a plebiscite on becoming president for life and then not being able to guarantee the turn-out.
Political results are always reached slowly in our state, so we must relax and await the correct results that follow the other arrangements.
