FARMINGTON — Bloomfield is moving on to the 3A baseball quarterfinals.

The No. 7 Bobcats got a dominant performance on the mound from Elisha Journey in a 7-0 win against No. 10 Robertson on Saturday in Bloomfield.

Journey threw a two-hit shutout and struck out 11 to get the win for the Bobcats.

"We came in with focus and just worried about playing every inning," Bloomfield head coach Frank DeHoyos said.

It took a few innings for the Bobcat offense to get going, but DeHoyos says a sacrifice bunt on a squeeze play by Damian Duran jump started his team.

"The play by Damian Duran put us up 2-0 and really opened the flood gates," DeHoyos said.

Journey added a two-run home run in the fifth inning help seal the win.

Bloomfield will advance to play No. 2 Sandia Prep on Thursday in Rio Rancho.

DeHoyos said he hasn't seen Prep this season but plans to contact the Farmington High and Piedra Vista coaching staffs for information on the team. Both Farmington teams faced the Sundevils earlier this season.

"Coach (Sean) Trotter and coach (Mike) McGaha have always been a big help to us, and we'll see what we can find out," he said. "I'm really just worried about us, though. We'll let the chips fall where they may."

No. 9 Shiprock saw its season come to a close with a 10-0 loss to No. 8 Portales in the first round.

Shiprock lost Game 1 of the series 16-6 on Friday in Portales.

The Chieftains finished their season with a 20-6 record.
