FARMINGTON — The Bloomfield baseball team swept Wingate and will have the chance at a district title next week.

The Bobcats defeated the Bears 15-0 and 8-0 on Thursday at Wingate High School.

Adriano Stevenson earned the game one win on the mound, striking out 15 Wingate hitters in the victory.

Luke Duggan pitched a complete game in the second victory.

Kyle Thompson dominated with the bat for the Bobcats, going 6-of-9 at the plate in the two victories.

Bloomfield (12-8, 4-0 District 1-3A) will play Piedra Vista today and then Farmington on Monday before facing Shiprock for the District 1-3A championship on Thursday.

Bobcats head coach Frank DeHoyos said PV and FHS will be excellent competition for his squad and will help prepare his team for the matchup with the Chieftains.

"Those are two big games for us," he said of the games against the Farmington schools.

Shiprock has had a great season to this point, losing just two games, and DeHoyos knows his team will have to play well against the Chieftains.

"That's a good team they have over there," he said. "Alfred Baer has done a great job with them."
