FARMINGTON — A warm-up triangular meet leading up to today's Rocky Mountain Wrestling Tournament saw Bloomfield's wrestling team come out on top.
Bloomfield won three duals on Friday night in Pagosa Springs, Colo., to win the triangular.
The Bobcats beat Widefield High of Colorado Springs, Colo., 45-33 in their first dual. Bloomfield then took down Sheridan High of Denver 48-30. The Bobcats finished the night by defeating Pagosa Springs 43-32.
"We had a pretty good night and wrestled well in all three duals," said Bloomfield head coach Greg Shoemaker. "We know we can wrestle better than what we did tonight. We were a little flat at times, but it should help get the guys ready for (Saturday)."
Shoemaker said Troy Rightmire and JD Robinson had standout performances on Friday night, winning all of their matches.
The Bobcats carried a full roster of 14 boys into Friday night's duals.
Bloomfield will compete in Pagosa Springs' 16-team Rocky Mountain Wrestling Tournament today.
"This tournament is always interesting because it is indicative of how you kind of do in state," Shoemaker said. "If you can podium here, you can podium in state. It is the first real individual-type tournament. This is an elimination bracket tournament, so we will see how the guys handle it."John Livingston can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org; 505-564-4648. Follow him on Twitter @jlivi2.
