FARMINGTON — The Farmington High volleyball team finished its regular season with a disappointing five-set loss to Los Alamos.
The Hilltoppers (13-7) defeated the Lady Scorpions 26-24, 15-25, 24-26, 25-18, 15-10 on Saturday in Farmington.
"It was a really great match," said FHS head coach Dan Hickman. "We took turns owning the game, then the fifth set was a battle. They're a great defensive team and wouldn't let a ball hit the floor."
FHS (14-6) will host the semifinal of the District 1-4A tournament on Thursday against the winner of Aztec and Kirtland Central.
"We'll go to Aztec on Tuesday and see who comes out on top in that match, and get ready for whoever we'll face," Hickman said.
Wingate 3, Bloomfield 0
The Lady Bobcats (1-17 overall, 0-6 District 1-3A) finished the regular season with a straight-set loss to Wingate (14-5, 6-0) 25-15, 27-25, 25-16.
Bloomfield enters the District 1-3A tournament as the No. 4 seed and will play No. 3 seed Thoreau on Tuesday.
Head coach Tami Bekes is still hopeful her team can string a few wins together to get into the state tournament.
"I want us to finish out as district champions," Bekes said. "Our girls are very capable. We didn't win matches, but we didn't give up."
