FARMINGTON — The Bloomfield boys soccer team notched their first victory of the season.
The Bobcats knocked off Aztec 3-0 in Bloomfield on Thursday.
"It's a nice win," said Bloomfield head coach Jarly Lopez. "We're kind of a little out of place and not quite used to playing games yet."
Bloomfield scored all three of its goals in the first half of play.
Mika Bachert opened the scoring for the Bobcats with a goal in the 22nd minute.
Isaiah Natonie tacked on the second Bloomfield goal two minutes later, and then Amadio Gonzalez netted the third Bobcat goal in the 38th minute.
Lopez was happy with the win after his team suffered a few injuries early in the year.
"Our lineup is pretty depleted," he said. "We did really well and were in their half of the field for most of the game."
Next up, Aztec will host Bernalillo on Saturday, and Bloomfield plays at Miyamura on Monday.
Aztec 3, Bloomfield 0
The Aztec volleyball team picked up a straight-set victory over Bloomfield in the Lady Tigers home opener Thursday night.
"They were nervous in the first home game," said Aztec head coach Anna Strauss. "I think it was the first game jitter, but we settled down and played disciplined."
Aztec rolled through the first two sets 25-14 and 25-16 before finishing off the Lady Bobcats in a tight third set 25-23.
"We served and passed well, but we need a lot of work on our consistency and timing," Strauss said.
Aztec will play next at Shiprock on Tuesday, and Bloomfield will face Kirtland.
Hope Christian 10, Navajo Prep 0.
Navajo Prep ran into a tough opponent in Hope Christian, falling to the Lady Huskies 10-0.
"Our midfield is something we've got to work on, but Hope is a really good team," said Prep head coach Stacy Irwin.
Hope Christian won the game via mercy rule about 15 minutes into the second half.
Prep will be in action next against Desert Academy on Saturday.
