On homecoming night, Kirtland Central picked up their biggest win of the season.
The Broncos blasted Capital 49-0 Friday night in Kirtland.
The win is the third straight for the Kirtland squad and moves their record to .500 at 3-3 on the season.
“That means a lot,” said head coach Kevin Graham of the three game winning streak. “We’re just trying to play as a team and get better. Our offensive line did well opening holes and staying with their blocks, and we have three running backs — Alex Kamae, Bryceson Arthur and Jacob Belin — who are running hard.”
Kamae ran for 100 yards and two touchdowns.
Arthur added 87 yards and a touchdown.
Belin scored two first half touchdowns from inside the five-yard line and had an interception on defense for the Broncos.
Quarterback Rashaan Sorrelhorse hit Kerby Hamblin on a 38-yard score, helping the Broncos take a 35-0 lead into halftime.
The Kirtland Central defense forced four Jaguar (0-6) turnovers.
Next up for Kirtland will be a home matchup against Bloomfield, who is coming off a 35-12 loss to Farmington on Friday.
“It’s going to be a challenge. They have a lot of speed,” Graham said of the Bobcats. “We’ll have to be at our best. Their record is deceiving because of a tough schedule, but they’ve got a good team.”
