BLOOMFIELD — First Baptist Church of Bloomfield will celebrate summer with a free party for the community on Saturday.

Craig Montroy, associate pastor, said the "block party" — actually held in the church's parking lot on the corner where U.S. Highways 550 and 64 intersect — is in its fourth year. It draws 600 to 700 people, roughly the number Montroy sees during worship services on Sunday mornings, he said.

"School starts back up for some next week, and we are kind of getting people geared up, do something for the community as well," Montroy said. "It's either volunteer or donated. There will be food like hot dogs, frybread, popcorn, inflatables and games and live music by the worship team. It's all free."

The event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 200 W. Sycamore Ave.

"We pray for rain but not on Saturday," Montroy said. "People will have a lot of fun."
