FARMINGTON — An official with the San Juan County Sheriff's Office said a 15-year-old teenager has been arrested for allegedly shooting an air gun at two children on County Road 3937 Tuesday evening.
Lt. Brice Current said that charges were referred to juvenile court against the youth for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A second teenager, accused of being an accomplice in the shooting, remains at large.
A deputy said Tuesday that the two teenagers allegedly used an airsoft gun to shoot at two small children racing in the street.
A 7-year-old boy told The Daily Times that he was riding his bike when what he described as a bullet from a BB gun hit his bike chain, causing him to crash into a nearby ditch. His 12-year-old friend helped him up.
The boys — whose parents asked their names not be used for fear of retaliation — said they have had problems in the past with the teenager. The incident was reported to police just before 8 p.m.
