FARMINGTON — Mothers from around San Juan County will gather on Saturday in Farmington's Kiwanis Park to join women from around the world in an attempt to break a world record.

The goal is to have the most mothers nursing at the same time.

The event, known as the Big Latch On, is put on by La Leche League International. Each year, it attracts thousands of women from local chapters to participate.

The local La Leche League will start its event at 10 a.m. The event provides information about breast feeding and serves as a place where women can come together to support one another.

The Big Latch On, which lasts for about a minute, will start at 10:30 a.m. It will be followed by an ice cream social.
