FARMINGTON — Police arrested three teenagers on suspicion of burglary on Sunday after the suspects allegedly broke into a medical marijuana dispensary in Farmington.
Police responded to an alarm at the New Mexico Alternative Care facility on Browning Parkway at about 12:31 a.m. on Sunday, according to a press release from the Farmington Police Department.
When they arrived, officers saw three people carrying backpacks and exiting the back of the building. The suspects ran, and police pursued them on foot.
Two K-9 units were brought in to help the search. Cas, one of the police dogs, located one of the suspects while officers located a second suspect. Officers with the Bloomfield Police Department and the San Juan County Sheriff's Office also joined in the search. Sheriff's office deputies found the final suspect near the area of County Road 3000.
The three teens were found with more than 50 ounces of marijuana. Police estimated the value at about $17,000.
Alex Smith, 18, and two 17-year-old juveniles, whose names were not released, were arrested and charged with commercial burglary, conspiracy to commit commercial burglary, felony possession of marijuana and other related charges.
