FARMINGTON — A 33-year-old man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of strong-arm robbery and battery against a household member.
A Farmington police officer was dispatched at midnight Thursday to the Economy Inn, 332 E. Main St., to investigate a battery complaint, according to a police report.
The woman told the officer that her boyfriend, Albert Roderick, had punched her in the face several times and stolen $40 from her purse. The officer noted two cuts on her face, the report states.
She told the officer that Roderick was recently released from jail for a previous domestic violence offense and had nowhere to stay for the night. She agreed to put him up in a motel room, she said, but he became upset after she refused to give him more money, the report states.
The detective said in the report that Roderick appeared extremely intoxicated and spoke incoherently. He was transported to San Juan County Detention Center and booked for strong-arm robbery and battery of a household member.
Roderick was previously charged in both September 2009 and in June 2010 with battery against a household member, according to court records. In both cases, he was determined to be incompetent and unable to stand trial and the charges were dismissed, according to court records.
The woman was provided information on how to request a temporary restraining order and the officer urged her to discuss the matter with a domestic violence advocate.
