FARMINGTON — Keenan Lee and Ryver Kallstrom waited together for nearly five hours Monday morning for the newest restaurant in Farmington to open.
"We wanted to camp out but my mom said 'no,'" said 16-year-old Kallstorm.
The pair were the first in line and the first to be seated at Buffalo Wild Wings, 2400 E. Main Street, when the sports bar opened shortly after 11 a.m.
Lee, 17, and Kallstrom said they arrived at 6 a.m. to wait for the new restaurant to open.
The restaurant was outfitted with 68 flat screens televisions and all were showing programs from variety of different sports channels, including golf and the National Hockey League channel.
Shawn Hohner, Buffalo Wild Wings regional manager, said one of the restaurant's goal is to allow patrons to watch sports and even open early if a big sports event is starting early.
As a regional manager, he said some restaurants opened early a couple of weeks ago when the U.S. soccer team played a midmorning match during the World Cup.
In addition, he said, fans can watch other sports like curling, tennis and other sports with smaller audiences.
"We have some of the best wings you can get and have sports everywhere," he said.
Like the restaurant's name might suggest, Hohner said they offer chicken wings and have hundreds of different combinations of food on their menu.
He said customers can chose from 17 different flavored sauces, all of which they use for their wings but can be added to other dishes like burgers, salads and other finger foods.
Sauce flavors range from Asian Zing, Caribbean Jerk and Thai Curry to more common flavors like Hot and BBQ.
Patrons can wash those flavors down with a variety of soft drinks or more than 50 types of beer that are served from their full service bar.
Hohner said they aim to offer variety but maintain a family atmosphere.
"We have a family atmosphere at the same time, we're sports. So we cater to both," he said.
The 6,500 square foot sports bar has room for nearly 300 people and has hired 153 people to open the eatery.
Zhianna Flores, a cashier and greeter, said she was excited for opening day.
She said she ate at a Buffalo Wild Wings in Tennessee and had a good experience.
"They opened up here and I said 'I have to work here' because it's a really fun atmosphere," she said.
Kallstrom and Lee, who are first-time visitors to the chain, ordered wings.
