FARMINGTON — A motorcyclist was transported to the San Juan Regional Medical Center Monday after being struck by a suspected drunken driver in Farmington.

Wanda Trujillo, 36 of Dulce, was traveling east on Main Street at approximately 4 p.m. on Monday when she struck the motorcyclist, according to public information officer Georgette Allen of the Farmington Police Department. Trujillo was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Pinon Hills Boulevard at the time.

Allen said charges have been referred against Trujillo, currently in custody, for driving under the influence, second offense, causing great bodily harm by a vehicle, and failure to yield.

The motorcyclist, who has not yet been identified, is in stable condition, Allen said.

Causing great bodily harm by a vehicle is a third-degree felony. It carries a maximum sentence of three years imprisonment and $5,000 in fines.
