The Farmington Police Department is reminding residents to avoid the use of aerial fireworks this Fourth of July after a brush fire broke out in the 3000 block of Buena Vista Avenue.

According to a press release, Farmington police responded to the fire at 11:40 p.m. Friday after receiving a report from a homeowner who said his bushes were on fire. The homeowner said he also heard what sounded like fireworks.

The Farmington Fire Department responded and no one was hurt during the incident.

The Farmington Police Department said in the release that officers will enforce firework laws with "zero tolerance." The following fireworks are illegal: aerial spinners, helicopters, mines, missile-type rockets, roman candles, shells, stick-type rockets, chasers and firecrackers.
