BLOOMFIELD — A 13-year-old Bloomfield girl died Monday from injuries sustained during a 4-wheeler crash in the Wilderness Park area.
Lybertee Clark sustained severe head trauma and injuries to her torso after losing control of her ATV and falling down a steep embankment, according to a San Juan County Sheriff's Department press release. She was transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries, the release states.
Her 8-year-old brother, who was not identified, was a passenger on the ATV and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the same hospital.
San Juan County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to Wilderness Park at 6:30 p.m. on June 16 after receiving reports of the crash, the release states. The 150-acre park is located northwest of downtown Bloomfield and is well-known for its ATV trails.
