FARMINGTON — A Kirtland man pleaded guilty Monday to statutory rape charges stemming from a 2012 incident with a Jicarilla Apache child.

According to a U.S. Department of Justice press release, Justin Chee, 24, pleaded guilty to statutory rape charges stemming from an Aug. 30, 2012, incident where he knowingly engaged in a sexual act with a 14-year-old victim.

The press release states Chee has been in federal custody since his arrest in March 2014 and will remain detained pending his sentencing hearing, which has not yet been scheduled.
