FARMINGTON — The Navajo Nation Council will meet for a special session today in the council chamber in Window Rock, Ariz.
The delegates will consider legislation requesting $5 million in supplemental funding from the Unreserved Undesignated Fund Balance. The money would help the Navajo Nation's 110 chapters pay for programs and services such as the public employment project, housing, summer youth employment programs, scholarships and emergencies.
The bill went before the council during the May 30 special session, but quorum was lost before voting occurred.
Prior to quorum being lost, delegates approved an additional $1 million for financial assistance for veterans.
Also listed on the proposed agenda is approving amendments to the Navajo Nation Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act of 2012 and opposing the recapturing of housing assistance by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
