FARMINGTON — The Bob Gerding Youth Fly-Fishing Adventure on June 14 on the Quality Waters of the San Juan River is looking for participants.

The event is open to anglers ages 11 through 16. No fly-fishing experience is required, and equipment will be provided, according to a press release.

San Juan County Fly Fishing Federation members and other anglers will teach fly-fishing workshops. Young anglers will also be paired with a guide.

Entry fee is $10 per angler. The fee will be refunded after participation in the event.

The event starts at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast at Abe's on the San Juan River. A fly-fishing seminar will then be from 8:30 to 10 a.m., followed by fishing on the river from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. An awards banquet will be at 4 p.m. Lunch and a banquet dinner are provided.

The tournament is in memory of Bob Gerding, who passed away last year. He hosted the "Bob Gerding Outdoor Adventures Hunting and Fishing Show" for 15 years, wrote two books on fly-fishing and hosted radio and TV programs.

The Farmington Noonday Civitans and the San Juan Fly Fishing Federation have organized the event.
