FARMINGTON — The city is inviting a limited number of residents and business owners to a class about how the city's government functions.
The Citizen Insight Academy is a free, six-week program. Classes are at 6 p.m. every Wednesday, beginning May 14. The first class will attend the public input budget meeting at 5:30 p.m. at Farmington City Hall, 800 Municipal Drive.
Classes will cover the city's budget, community development planning, the police department and other city departments, wastewater treatment plan and airport, the electric utility and other city functions.
Elected officials, department directors and various city staff will teach the classes, which last for about two and a half hours.
Only the first 15 applicants will be accepted.
Mayor Tommy Roberts will present graduates a certificate of completion at the June 24 council meeting.
