AZTEC — People interested in raising money for their agricultural projects will learn how to use social media to do so on Monday.

Jesse Lasater, a farmer from Bayfield, Colo., will lead a presentation at a meeting hosted by Sustainable San Juan on crowdfunding — the practice of funding a project by collecting small donations from a large number of people online — and his new organization, Harvest Funders.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. Monday at San Juan College East, 315 Ash St., in Aztec.

"Jesse will help people learn about crowdfunding, inspired by sites like Kickstarter," said Elisa Bird, director of Sustainable San Juan. "He'll bring together old world agricultural technology with the latest in 21st Century technology. If you have any projects, bring your idea to the meeting and learn how to raise money using the Internet to make it happen."
