FARMINGTON — Ducks Unlimited, a national wetlands and waterfowl conservation organization, is revitalizing its San Juan basin chapter with a river cleanup on Saturday.
The regions the group will clean, the Quality Waters and Upper Flats area below Navajo Dam, are becoming increasingly popular for duck hunting. The local group wants to improve the image of duck hunting on a local level, said San Juan Basin chapter treasurer Jason Clark.
"Our goal is to protect this valuable resource that we are lucky enough to have access to," he said.
The public — and especially duck hunters and others who use the area — are encouraged to help with the project. Trash bags and water will be provided.
Cleanup begins at 9 a.m. at the Muñoz Day Use Area and will continue until noon.
