FARMINGTON — The Northern Navajo Agency Council is recommending appointing Red Mesa Chapter President Herman Farley to serve on the Commission on Navajo Government Development.
The Northern Navajo Agency Council nominated Farley in December 2013 after the term for the previous representative expired.
Farley was first elected chapter president in January 1998 and serves its constituents in Arizona and Utah.
The Commission on Navajo Government Development was created in 1986 to make recommendations for reform that ensure an accountable and responsible tribal government.
If Farley is confirmed by the Navajo Nation Council, he would serve a four-year term.
Council delegate Russell Begaye, who represents Shiprock, is sponsoring the legislation containing Farley's appointment.
The bill was posted on the council's website and will be eligible for committee action on Thursday.
