FARMINGTON — A 25-year-old man is in custody after allegedly shooting a man in the leg Wednesday afternoon.
Police arrested Mario Silas on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by a felon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
A shooting was reported near the 1100 block of Hines Road at about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday. The injured person, a 27-year-old Farmington man, had been taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center before police arrived at the scene, according to a Farmington police news release.
Police didn’t release the victim’s name Thursday morning. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, according to the release.
Farmington police Detective Sgt. Brandon Lane said Silas shot at a vehicle.
He said he didn’t know the relationship between Silas and the victim or what prompted the shooting.
