FARMINGTON — A man charged with sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl pleaded guilty on Monday to criminal sexual contact against a minor.
Paul Gurule, who lived in Bloomfield, entered the plea on Monday in district court.
Prosecutors dismissed two criminal sexual penetration charges against Gurule in exchange for the guilty plea. He will be sentenced to 10 years in prison as a condition of the plea agreement, San Juan County Chief Deputy District Attorney Brent Capshaw said.
Bloomfield police arrested Gurule in July 2012, just one month after he moved to the city from Nevada.
The victim allegedly told her mother about the assault, who then notified police.
Police said in court documents that Gurule admitted to them that he sexually assaulted the victim.
