FARMINGTON — The San Juan County Administration building, 100 S. Oliver Drive, will be closed from 3 to 5 p.m. today for an active shooter drill with the San Juan County Sheriff's Office and the San Juan County Fire Department.
During the drill, the building, which includes the clerk, assessor and treasurer offices, will be closed, as will northbound traffic on Oliver Drive. The offices will re-open for a half hour after the event ends, said Jodie Hooser, a public information officer for the county.
Southbound traffic will be open during the drill. District and magistrate courthouses won't be affected.
Police officers, firefighters and emergency vehicles will be in full gear and will practice responding to an emergency during the exercise.
The purpose of the drill is to prepare emergency responders and county employees for a shooting.
