FARMINGTON — Two days after a shooting left one man dead in his home, a shooter hasn't been located and no arrests have been made in the case, according to investigators.

Daniel Boone, 28, was shot and killed at his home at No. 5 County Road 3235 on Saturday night, San Juan County Sheriff's Office Capt. Brice Current said.

Fired shots and screams were reported to police at 8:47 p.m. Police arrived four minutes later, and Boone was found dead, Beth Utley, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office, said in a news release.

Current said it wasn't a drive-by shooting, but he didn't release any more information about the crime.

He said no charges have been filed in connection to the case.

Several of Boone's relatives were at the home on Monday. One person said Boone was "unfairly murdered" but declined to comment further about the victim.

Boone didn't have a criminal history in San Juan County, according to a state court website.

Boone worked at Kelly Cable of New Mexico as a laborer until about a month ago, said Jessica Coyazo, the office manager.

After the shooting was reported Saturday night, police were searching for a "well-dressed woman" and a man who drove away from the shooting in a car, according to police and fire dispatchers.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call sheriff's office investigators at 505-334-6107.
