FARMINGTON — The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Mexico dismissed charges against one of the six people charged Dec. 12 in connection to a woman's slaying.

Prosecutors dismissed all charges against Joni Eaglefeather on Dec. 16, saying in a motion it was in the interest of justice, according to court documents.

Eaglefeather has been released from custody, according to the documents.

Patrick Benally, Justin Benally, Lasheena Jacquez, Mariah Benally, Scott Thompson and Eaglefeather were all charged this month with murder, kidnapping and aiding and abetting in connection to a woman's death. The FBI recovered the body Dec. 10 near County Road 7100 southeast of Farmington.

An autopsy showed the woman was stabbed 16 times, according to court documents.
