FARMINGTON — The FBI said a woman in a Santa Claus hat robbed a Farmington bank and was arrested 3 1/2 hours later at SunRay Park and Casino.

Shortly after 1 p.m., a woman handed a note demanding money to a teller at Citizens Bank, 4220 Hudson Street, authorities said. The teller turned over an undisclosed amount and the woman left the bank, FBI spokesman Frank Fisher said in a news release.

The woman was wearing the Santa hat, sunglasses, a dark jacket, dark pants and a brown fuzzy glove on her right hand.

She left in a Toyota Camry, according to the FBI.

At about 4:30 p.m., Fisher said the woman was arrested at SunRay Park and Casino. Bank robbery is punishable by up to 20 years in prison for each offense, and the penalty can increase if a dangerous weapon is used, according to the FBI.

The FBI didn't say if the robber was armed.

The woman had not been charged with a crime Monday evening and the FBI didn't release her identity.

Monday's bank robbery was the first one in Farmington since a Colorado couple robbed the Wells Fargo, 4601 E. Main St. in September 2012.
