FARMINGTON —A 25-year-old man wanted for allegedly shooting a woman in the face in Fruitland has been arrested, according to an FBI press release.
Patrick Benally, of Shiprock, allegedly shot the woman at a housing complex on the Navajo Indian Reservation on Oct. 10, according to the release.
U.S. Marshals arrested Benally near Morgan Lake on the Navajo Reservation Friday night, according to the release, and he is expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque on Tuesday.
Benally is charged in federal court with assault resulting in serious bodily injury, assault with a dangerous weapon and use of a firearm to commit a violent crime, according to the release.
The woman was treated in a hospital, according to the release, and her identity and whereabouts are not being released.
The FBI offered a $1,500 reward for the arrest and convection of Benally, according to the release.
The Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety and San Juan County Sheriff's Office are assisting with the investigation, according to the release.
