FARMINGTON — A Farmington man was killed in a car crash near Cuba earlier this month.

Irvin Bailey, 73, was killed in crash on Oct. 11. The crash happened at about 5:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 550 about 10 miles north of Cuba, Sandoval County Sheriff's Office Lt. Keith Elder said.

Bailey's wife, Carolyn, was the driver. She was injured in the crash and was treated at University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque.

Elder said the couple was traveling southbound on the highway and the front, right side of their vehicle collided with the left, rear side of a semi-truck which pulled onto the road in front of the Baileys.

Elder said the husband and wife were wearing their seat belts and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
