FARMINGTON — The San Juan County Commission on Tuesday night tabled voting on a proposed land use code.
County Operations Officer Mike Stark said county officials plan to make changes to the proposed code, host another round of public meetings and bring the code before the commission in December.
The county is considering creating land use districts for the private land outside of Farmington, Aztec and Bloomfield and the Navajo Nation.
The land use districts would create rules and regulations for future development in those areas.
Creating a land use district for agricultural land is one change the county plans to make, Stark said.
After the new map and code are created, Stark said there will be a public meeting, likely in early November, for officials to get more public feedback before bringing the code before the commission for a vote.
